Notice to Customers – Total Trihalomethanes (TTHM) Monitoring
August 04, 2026
Benton County Water Authority No. 5 is providing notice that recent water quality monitoring for the period of January 2026 to March 2026 identified an annual average Total Trihalomethanes (TTHM) level of 83 parts per billion (ppb) at one sampling location, which is slightly above the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of 80 ppb.
There is no immediate health risk, and you do not need to boil your water or take any other corrective action. This notice is being provided in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Because Benton County Water Authority No. 5 purchases treated water from a wholesale supplier, we are continuing to work to reduce TTHM levels by continuing our routine flushing throughout our distribution system in an effort to reduce the TTHM levels within our water distribution system. We will also continue to monitor TTHM levels through the required quarterly sampling program.
