URGENT WATER CONSERVATION REQUEST
August 17, 2026
Benton County Water Authority 5 Customers:
We are asking all customers to immediately reduce water usage and stop all non-essential water use.
Water usage over the weekend indicates that our conservation request has not been followed to the extent necessary. At the same time, Madison County Water Utilities' pumps are having difficulty keeping up with the current demand from our system.
Our goal is to make sure that all BCWA5 customers can continue to receive reliable water service throughout this heat and drought spell. However, if water usage continues at its current rate, we may be forced to move from a voluntary conservation request to mandatory water-use restrictions.
Please take the following actions immediately:
- STOP all lawn and landscape irrigation. This includes automatic irrigation systems.
- Stop other non-essential water uses, including washing vehicles, pressure washing, and other activities that can be delayed.
- Please delay filling or substantially topping off large swimming pools for at least one week, or until we are through this period of extreme heat and drought.
- A small amount of water to maintain an existing pool is acceptable, but please avoid adding large quantities of water at this time.
We understand that conservation is an inconvenience, but every gallon saved helps ensure that water remains available for all customers.
We are asking everyone to do their part now so that mandatory restrictions do not become necessary.
Thank you for your immediate cooperation and for helping us protect the water supply for our entire community.
